Patrick Spielman is the world's leading wood-working author, with over 75 books published, including the best-selling The New Router Handbook and Scroll Saw Pattern Book, which have each sold over one million copies. The New Router Handbook won the National Association of Home and Workshop Writers award for Best How-To Book in 1994. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Stout, he has taught high school and vocational woodworking in Wisconsin schools for 27 years.
Patrick, with the assistance of his family, owned and operated a wood product manufacturing company for 20 years. Most recently, he published and distributed Home Workshop News, a bimonthly newsletter/magazine dedicated to scroll-sawing. Patrick and his wife Patricia own Spielman's Wood Works and Spielman's Kid Works, two gift galleries located in northeastern Wisconsin that feature quality wood products.
Over the course of Patrick's teaching and woodworking careers, he has invented hundreds of jigs, fixtures, and woodworking aids. He has served as a technical consultant and designer for a major tool manufacturer and he continues to pioneer new and exciting techniques for woodworkers as he has done for more than 45 years.
